Characteristics and Qualities

I am a team player and recognized as a strong leader who can motivate individuals to perform at their best. I can very easy adapt to different situations both practically and socially as I daily, due to present position as Captain and MRM (Maritime Resource Management) consultant meet professional Mariners, crew and passengers with various cultures, religions, nationalities, ranks and social background.

The time with Star Cruises and Dream Cruises has given me a wide perspective how to interpret characters/behaviors which is a great help when building teams and to achieve objectives. Trust and loyalty is valued high.

I am used to work independently with various projects and I see increased responsibility as an important part of the personal development. I am eager to improve, good trouble shooter and I have high expectations of myself and others. I am used to find new and challenging solutions and work daily with short and long term strategies.

2006-2009, Staff Captain – Star Cruises. Second in Command which include member of Shipboard Management and Department Head for Deck (Bridge, Safety, Security, Clinic and Personnel).

2001-2005, Safety Manager – Star Cruises. I was during my time as Safety Manager in charge of training and implementation of the Emergency Organization (1350 crew member onboard), train and certify crewmembers as per Star Cruises STCW program and implementation of the ISM Code (Safety Management System).

1999-2001, First Officer – Star Cruises/Norwegian Cruise Line. I spent the majority of my time as First Officer at Meyer Werft, Papenburg, Germany where I was involved in Star Cruises/Norwegian Cruise Line new building projects (3). My responsibilities at the shipyard was the Bridge which included commissioning of the Bridge equipment, setup of Normal/Emergency Bridge Procedures and training/auditing Bridge Officers. Star Cruises were pioneer in implementing the Maritime Resource Management (MRM) culture which has been a part of my daily work since this time.
